Angels in Disguise Photo Contest

Angels in Disguise — that is what us Golden lovers think our companions portray. Dr. Rachel Remen, Commonweal Cancer Help Program Medical Director, speaks to this special presence of angels: "In a time of crisis or self-doubt, should you need to know what the true value of your life is, to feel the uncoserious lovingnditional love and support of the Creator, look into the eyes of an animal. They have been put there, close to you, for you to see."

I am very proud of the fact that even though this contest was limited to just the Golden breed, it garnered an incredible 60 entries (Oct 28 to Dec 5, 2001). While us Golden folks may not be surprised by this number, it is a testament to our own secret belief that Goldens are truly angels on earth. And, it is the reason that what began as a basic photo contest, evolved into a passionate sharing of what living with *Gold* is all about.

Although when the contest began only three photo entries were to garner prizes, this was expanded to: Ten Photo Entry Winners that visually demonstrated either an angelic relationship or a creative application that conveyed an angelic impression; One Golden Audience Voted Winner for which viewers were the final judge; Nine Story Winners that relayed an angelic sense — but mainly through words; and Four Memorial Tributes — all having formally earned their wings.

Every one of the 60 Golden contest photos depicted a winner of a dog. And, the contest was incredibly hard to judge given the emotion that was conveyed in the many entries that were received.
