"Pictured here is *our* angel, Kody. He hails from Virginia, but
finds his home now with us. Kody is not dressed up in an angel attire, as he
wears his wings daily. All you have to do is look at his face to see the
true dog he is. Kody will be 11 years old this January and has been an
invaluable aid to us as we have reared five Canadian Canine Vision dogs. (We
are foster parents and Kody is the foster dog!) Just as we become their
masters, Kody has become their mentor, and they/we all see him for the true
angel he is."
On Nov 20, 2001, I received the
following message from Sylvia and Al: "Just to let you know that our beloved
KODY passed away last Friday at his home from a sudden illness. He was fine
up until Wednesday and then died at home on Friday morning. He had liver
cancer but did not suffer at all. I have visited your site link on grieving
for pets and it is wonderful. It is very helpful to my husband and I,
especially now. We have a 2 year old yellow lab (Austin Powers) who is
getting a whole lot of lovin' now but is still in a state of depression over
the passing of his friend and companion, KODY. We are definitely going
'Golden' hunting in the spring, because once you love and are loved by a
Golden, nothing much else comes close, although our Austin is a really very
close second! Thanks for your help . . . . I hope you will still consider
KODY for the angel contest, as he is now a real angel in heaven, just as he
was on earth."

"Our beloved dog Corky is truly an angel
today. After battling cancer for over 13 months she passed
away on November 5, 2001 just shy of 12 years old. This
photo shows how strong Corky was — it was taken while she
was undergoing chemotherapy. She looks young and healthy in
this photo even though she was 11 years old at the time and
sick with terminal cancer. We are submitting her photo and
writing this message today to help us deal with the
tremendous loss that my wife and I feel after losing our
closest friend in the whole world. She cheered us up when we
were sad, she made us smile when we were angry — she made
the world a special place. We love you and miss you Corky!
You will always be our angel."

"This is a picture
of my *forever dog,* Flirt. Flirt is Truly my angel as she died at the young
age of 4½ from Lymphoma. She was my angel dog for the short time G-d let me
care for her and she is my angel dog now — only with wings and walking on
silent paws now."

"This is Amber Blaze V. I adopted Amber Blaze from a
co-worker who's mother passed away and was unable to care
for her because she had a large dog in her apartment. My
co-worker was afraid since Amber was 8 years old already
that she would not be adopted from a shelter so her quest
was to find someone who could care and love her. Amber had
been put in several homes, but was unable to get along with
other dogs, so she kept coming back. I had inquired about
Amber from a work electronic bulletin board. I asked about
her but she had been placed. A week or so had gone by and I
saw the posting again. I wrote to ask again about Amber and
she was available. I offered to take Amber on a trail basis
to see how it would work out. Amber was dropped off at my
house on a Friday evening. The next day, I called the owner
back, to say, you need not come back for Amber, that I would
keep her and love her forever.
Over nearly the next
5 years Amber and I bonded. Everyone in the neighborhood
loved her. Amber made two best friends while with me. There
is a six year old little girl down the block from me that
Amber just adored. Her name is Carly. They loved each other
terribly. Also, my dad had a very special bond with Amber.
Since I worked all day, my dad would let her out during the
day. He was so proud to walk Amber not only in my
neighborhood, but he would drive her back to his and proudly
show her off. Amber Blaze was indeed the best dog in the
world. Three months before her 13th birthday I made the most
difficult decision of my life. Amber had been suffering from
a cancer tumor for nearly 5 months. At her age and the size
of the tumor, it was time for me to say good bye to the best
friend I had ever known. I love and miss Amber Blaze
everyday, and she is my angel watching over me and my new
Golden Hooch."
"Carly, the now
seven-year-old young lady who was one Amber Blaze's best friends has since
moved to Tucson, Arizona. When I called Carly's mother and told her the
news, I then asked to speak with Carly. After telling her the news, she was
so excited that she started to cry as well as her mother and myself. It was
very emotional but well worth it. Thank you again for this wonderful honor.
My holidays are now complete"
