Fundraising Raffle ― Drawing Sunday
night, July
1, 2012
For
over 12 years we have been supporting and promoting holistically healthy and responsible dog care and ownership as well as respectful
and consistent training practices—the love shared between mankind and dogs so
engendering a mutual strength and healing power.
Since 2005 we have been supporting and disseminating information on
canine cancers
and
educating and promoting interest in research of those
cancers in companion animals that share a similarity to
the cancers that afflict children.
Imagine being disabled. Maybe blind, maybe deaf,
maybe in a wheelchair. Maybe with uncontrolled seizures or life-threatening
blood sugar drops due to brittle diabetes. Imagine the struggles that come with
that. Now imagine, THAT person having a working dog (which is really a fifth
limb) and that dog getting cancer. We cannot imagine it. As much as we have
loved on our Goldens, it is simply not the same. It is the reason that we only
fund cancer treatment for working dogs. It is just that important. Please help
us to continue to help these most deserving working teams.
Fabulous
$1,600 Prize Package
for 27 Lucky Winners
We are
incredibly fortunate for the generosity of so many fine people who share our vision.
Thank you Victoria, Suzi, Ted, Julie, Ron (& Ken), Fred, Michael,
Charon, Kim,
Joellen, Melanie,
Ge'Lena, and Nancy.
The folks below are our
prize
winners, yet, the 240+ folks who participated are ALL winners for paying
it forward in helping to keep the foundation going. We put in extra time and effort so that
many folks were able to get their most desired items. We did
not utilize pre-determined prize assignments, i.e., the
first ticket drawn getting prize #1, the second ticket drawn
prize #2, and so on. Rather, we designed a form that allowed
us to query each winner about their personal prize
preferences. And, while those persons with our earliest
drawn tickets certainly had the best chance of getting their
most desired items, we had folks whose tickets were selected
near the end of the lot who still managed to get top
choices! So cool that 91% of our winners got a prize identified as one of
their top 10 desired items. And, 65% of our winners got a
prize identified as one of their top 5 desired items.
Four
winners declined their prizes as their intent was merely to support
the foundation. This star indicates an alternate winner.
Tickets are $5 each. Not too
much to spend for a marvelous opportunity to get a great prize and help fund
cancer treatment at the same time. To purchase tickets,
just click on the "BUY TICKETS NOW" button.
To save on costs, ticket stubs
will not be mailed
out to buyers. Your name is written on a ticket and placed within our drum, for each ticket you purchase.
NOTE: Tax-deductible donations are not allowed due to merchandise being
attached to the purchase.
We raised enough to
fund cancer treatment grants for 6 dogs.

Sterling Silver Live Love Laugh

It
is always the perfect time to treat
yourself or the dog lovers in your life.
And, you cannot go wrong with Dog
jewelry for People by artists Julian
Esquivel and Ted Fees. We should know as
a beautiful custom bracelet was created
for us several years ago, fashioned
after a photo that we provided of our
Golden Darcy girl. It is a most
treasured piece that surely celebrates
the love that we shared.
This talented pair have created thousands of
pieces, their work among the finest that we have seen. No other
online vendors showcase this line, and it is only due to our
long relationship with the company―and
the nature of our nonprofit mission―that
we have been granted this wonderful opportunity.
Julian
Esquivel and Ted Fees have been creating quality jewelry designs
for over 22 years. Their work is known for being substantial in
weight, with much detail and dimensionality. All of their
original designs are hand carved from wax, utilizing the lost
wax casting process. After assembling your order, each piece is
hand finished and hand buffed to a perfect surface finish.
Unlike most jewelry companies, Ted and Julian pride themselves
in the fact that they hand make orders when they are received.
Making quality jewelry takes time (4-6 weeks) and when you
receive your order you will be able to see from the first look
that pride has been taken in each and every order created.
process from start to finish.
Ted Fees has been busy crafting some exclusive

socks Pair of Hand-knitted Socks from East Tennessee Gayle Knitwear
Charon Coonfield purchased a couple of raffle tickets
and then wanted to offer some of her handmade wares. She is a
knitting wiz.
Charon began knitting wool socks when her beloved
Gayle was first diagnosed with canine cancer in January 2010.
Sadly, Gayle left her side in December 2011. Charon
is still knitting socks, and she believes they are still full of
Gayle's spirit, if not her hair.
The lucky winner of this prize will receive two pairs
of hand-knitted socks.
The purple/green stripe socks are 80% merino and 20%
nylon. The brown/grey socks are 75% wool and 25% nylon.
Both pairs are about 9" from the back of heal to tip
of toe, fitting a woman's size 8 - 9 shoe or a man's size 8 shoe.
They are very stretchy and very warm.
Btw, if you want to know more about Gayle, her blog on tripawds is
located here:
www.etgayle.tripawds.com. She is surely Charon's hero, the
bravest girl any one would ever know.

twisted Luxuriously Soft
Bull-hide Fully Twisted
& Mellow Tanned Leather Leads We
are dedicated to providing handcrafted
quality braided leather products for your dogs.
These are handmade in Pennsylvania, which we love as well. There is no stitching or rivets used as these tend to pop or
break long before your lead is worn out. All of the products are individually crafted with simple hand
tools, with no mass production or machinery. We love the bull-hides as they are more stretchy and springy than the
latigos. They are also wonderfully soft and supple right from the beginning. That means there is no working in of the leather, that can takes
years of use. It is just immediately luxurious in your hands.
Our favorite leashes are leather ones that have been used from
training classes to walks to whatever. And, the braided ones are the best. But,
we never had a bull-hide lead before and cannot believe the difference.
Our Alfie (12½ years of age in this
photo) is sporting one of these gems. This particular lead is 3/4" wide
in the colors of Sand and Tobacco. It is the perfect width for larger
dogs. Be sure to click on Alfie to see a supersized view.
Bull-hide leads are simply stunning. They look good. They smell good. And, they
feel good. They are also strong and long lasting. So long lasting that you will
probably never need another lead again for your dog.
We will have 3 winners here, the winners able to select a choice of a Bull-Hide
or Mellow Tanned Leather Lead (depending on the dog's size). They will able to
get the color combination of their choice (two separate colors or same color
twisted together), in the width and length of their choice. Just look below at
some of the color choices Pretty cool, huh?

early puppy photo of her

Is that inside message not the cutest? Well, maybe we are a
bit biased when it comes to our little baby-faced guy (and
he still has this same face 13 years later, mind you).
These cards are printed on oversized 5¼" x 7¼" quality classic ivory

YardPup & Paw
... a pooper scooper with truly cool innovations.
It starts out just like other products using two tools, one for shoveling or sweeping the waste and the other for
holding the waste. But, this product can scoop from several kinds
of surfaces. And, the triangular rim can hold any type bag or even multiple bags,
having the perfect shape to rest on the ground, but still stay open enough to
scoop the poop in.
WE LOVE
ours and know it will be the last one we ever need.
What a perfect gift it is for every
dog person with a patio, garden or lawn.
Melanie Romero, formed the She-Edison Company, taking her idea for

puzzle Fred Stone Fine Art Partners Puzzle
from Land of PureGold Foundation
This
1000 piece puzzle is fabulous. A wonderful item for kids and adults
alike.
Fred Stone
is the best known painter of horses in the world today.
The Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune have
called him the most famous painter of horses in the
world. His work is in the homes of some of the world’s
most notable people including Her Majesty Queen
Elizabeth II and in the office of the president in the
White House.
And, more people own
a Fred Stone print than that of any other horse
artist in history, making him the most sought
after equine artist in the world.
Partners has raised over a half million dollars for charities such as the ASPCA,
canine search & rescue, and the families of New York City Firefighters who died
on 9/11.
Partners now hangs in The White House, Fred Stone having received a letter of
thanks from the President of The United States.
This image features ASPEN, a
member of the Canine Search and Rescue Unit for
approximately five years. During that time she responded to
numerous requests for assistance. ASPEN responded to
federal requests to assist in search and rescue
operations to include, the aftermath of the bombing of
the Alfred P. Murrah building in Oklahoma City,
earthquakes in Armenia Columbia, and the collapse of a
six story building in Puerto Rico. She has responded to
local building collapses in the Miami area. Aspen responded to numerous natural disasters to include
Hurricane "Opal" in Florida's panhandle, and tornadoes
in northern Florida. She participated in the search
for victims of the American Airlines crash of flight 965
in Buga, Columbia and the Fine Air crash in Miami,
Florida. ASPEN also assisted numerous federal, state
and local law enforcement agencies involving missing
persons, homicides and body recovery operations. She
performed thousands of hours of community service to
include visiting children in children's hospitals. ASPEN
was qualified in live victim and body recovery.
In 1997, the state of Florida pasted a state law that
protects SAR canines. When enacted, it was called the
"Aspen Search and Rescue Dog Protection Act".
Kathleen Thomsen, our 17th
place winner (17th ticket drawn), has selected this as her
#9 top desired prize. We will be looking forward to her

chips Nancy
M. West Book, Chips the War Dog (for young readers)
Chips The War Dog: Based on the True-Life
Adventures of the World War II K-9 Herois a fabulous book for young
readers ages 9 and up. Chips is a curious and carefree
dog until news arrives that Japanese warplanes have bombed Pearl Harbor.
Suddenly Chips’ comfortable life, and the lives of everyone he knows in
his peaceful little village are changed forever. Follow Chips as he is
enlisted in “Dogs for Defense” and joins the first war dog detachment to
be shipped overseas into some of the fiercest fighting of the Second
World War.
Reviews "I imagine it must be difficult to bring history to life for school
children. What better way to introduce an important time in our nation's
past than to capture a child's attention with a unique, but almost true
story? In Nancy West's book, Chips a Hometown Hero, readers will come to
adore a rambunctious and lovable pup, and cheer him on as he becomes the
most highly decorated K9 hero of World War II." -- Heather Froeschl,
Reviewer, Book Ideas
“Chips” isn’t just a children’s book, it’s a book for all ages. Ms. West
really captures what it feels like for a soldier returning home after
being away at war, and she does it through the eyes of a dog. Chips
makes the reader want to laugh and cry.” — Ron Aiello, President, United
States War Dog Association
“This is a great story. It is both wholesome and educational. This is
one of those books that become lop-eared from use. Read it and see why.”
— The Reading Tub Review
"I liked the whole concept of the story and what I learned about how
dogs helped out in the War. I would like to read more books on this
subject. The book will turn any dog HATER into a dog LOVER. What I
especially liked was how I was somewhat let in on Chips' feelings, like
how he could "sense war meant something bad." Little Kid Reaction — The
Reading Tub Review
