Diana Stark only got
to share six months with this special guy, Jan 13, 2001 being his last day. But, the memories will last a lifetime.
Old
Gold (or We Were Warned) Old Gold
never thought about it before we got one of our own. Old Gold would be 18 karat jewelry to
me not a wise bundle of old fur.
We just recently had to put down our 14 year old Kiani dog. The one that was there
for so many Air Force moves and had inserted her training abilities into two human boys
that grew up under her watchful eyes. We were devastatedhad never been through
anything like it before. We had been a one dog family for so many years only
to come across a little ball of red fur named Morgan who thought Kiani was his mother. We
were hooked! Discovered the local Rescue a Golden group (RAGofAZ) and there we go again
adopted a female Golden, Kelly. This one was a real handfulso
her middle name became PITA (stands for pain-in-the-xxx)
but what a lovely dog she is. Gives us all a bit of sunshine each day by keeping us on our
toes. Ok lets try fostering. Had a wonderful guy
named Tucker for our first foster. But we only had him for 13 days
just long enough for him to make our hearts beat faster before he was whisked away to the
most deserving home that could have ever been found.
Aches. Ok no more for awhile
that hurt too much. Besides we have a ton of people
showing up for the weekend there will only be floor space
available And so it went
we got the call to take in an emergency situation of Old Gold that weekend.
My tears flowed we cant do this
he is too much like our old Kiani girl.
But we couldnt turn this guy away could we. Surprise! Two months later and Old Gold Jake is now adopted by us
the empty nest is filling up with big red dogs. Jake is getting stronger each day from
when he originally arrived wearing his life vest to help
keep him happily swimming along in the pool that he considers was meant for him 24 hours a
day. And the young dogs are wondering if they will have so much fun in their old age . . .
. so do we . . . . .
