Premier's Easy Walk Harness is designed to gently discourage your dog from pulling
while walking on a leash. We couldn't imagine walking our Golden Alfie without
it. Unlike traditional collars, the Easy Walk Harness never causes
coughing, gagging, or choking because the chest strap rests low across the
breastbone, not on the delicate tracheal area. When your dog pulls on the leash,
he will be guided back towards you which will naturally and gently discourage
him from pulling.
Traditional harnesses can actually encourage dogs to pull harder because of the
“opposition reflex.” That’s the reflex that makes sled dogs do what they do. This
harness redirects the pressure through the front leash
attachment. And, the martingale closure tightens slightly across
the chest and shoulder blades when your dog attempts to pull forward.
This harness can be challenging for some to fit as the concept
of connecting to the leash in front of your dog is different than what we are
used to. Please watch the video below to see how easy it truly is to attach this
harness to your dog. We love ours for our Goldens, actually using the Tweener
size of medium/large as our kids are 60 lbs. But, breeds do vary in size and you
need to carefully measure your dog to get the perfect size for him or her.

NOTE: While harnesses can be
returned or exchanged for a different size, Premier does charge us a $9.95 to
$11.95 shipping charge for this service. Therefore, that cost would need to be
passed on to our customers.
A quick snap buckle on both the
shoulder and belly straps makes it easier to get the harness on and off your dog.
A soft-but-strong nylon and 4
adjustment points provide maximum comfort and a reliable fit.
The complementary color of the
belly strap makes it easier to identify each strap, while keeping the overall
look pleasantly color coordinated. You can quickly see which strap goes over
the shoulders, and which goes under the belly.
Available in 8 sizes, there are 3
“Tweener” sizes – petite/small, small/medium, and medium/large. Designed to fit
dogs whose girth and chest proportions do not fit within the 5 traditional
sizes, these “Tweener” sizes bridge the gap. Dogs with especially broad or
narrow chests may get a more accurate fit with Tweeners.

To
determine your dog’s size, use diagram above and measure your dog’s girth
(around the widest part of his chest, 1-2 inches behind his front legs)
Fitting Instructions IMPORTANT: Please read and understand
all instructions before using the harness on your dog!
Identifying the parts: 1. The chest piece has a martingale loop with a “D” ring for attaching the
leash.
2. The shoulder strap is made of the same color nylon as the chest strap and has
the Premier fabric tag.
3. The belly strap is made of a complementary color.
Fitting the Harness (The Premier
Way) Open the quick snap buckle on
the belly strap. Place the shoulder strap over
the dog’s head with the chest strap resting on the dog’s chest. Tighten belly strap to a
comfortably snug fit. On medium-sized dogs, only allow room for a
finger’s width under the strap. Allow a bit more for
larger dogs, less for smaller dogs. Gently press fingers on the
lower part of the front of the dog’s chest to locate breastbone. Adjust the shoulder strap so
that when the chest strap is horizontal (parallel to the ground),
the chest strap rests directly over the breast bone.
AFTER you have tightened
both the shoulder and belly straps to allow a finger’s width under
the belly strap, adjust the chest strap to fit
securely. It should rest nearly parallel to the
ground, not “hang down” or gap.
You may need to remove the
harness to make these adjustments. When the shoulder strap is
fitted correctly, the chest strap should resemble a horizontal line
(parallel to the ground), and it will rest
directly over the breastbone Attach the leash to the D-ring
on the chest strap.
Fitting the Harness (a puppy kindergarten instructor's way) First you place the harness over
the head like a collar, with the D-ring in front, and the bottom
strap hanging loose. Adjust the top strap so that the
two rings on the sides are about 2" above the dog's elbow. Then adjust the band under the
chest and fasten it. The harness should be snug but not tight. Adjust the front strap so that
it rests halfway between the point of the shoulder blade and the
'knee' of the dog. The D-ring should be
in the center.
Using the Easy Walk Harness
The Easy Walk Harness is designed to gently discourage your dog from pulling
while walking on a leash. And, it’s easy to use, requiring virtually no
acclimation period or specialized training. If your dog forges ahead of you,
gently pull the leash to the side to turn the dog towards you. As he stops
pulling, be sure to release the tension on the leash. Use praise and reward your
dog with treats and/or petting. To slow your dog when he is pulling ahead, apply
gentle pressure to the leash, pulling gently toward one side of the dog. Release
the pressure on the leash when the dog is walking nicely next to you.
We do NOT recommend using the Easy Walk Harness with a
retractable leash. With a retractable leash, the dog is “rewarded” with
additional leash when he pulls ahead. We want your dog to learn to NOT pull
ahead. In addition, a retractable leash will always apply a slight constant
pressure, teaching your dog it is okay to continue pulling. Please remember to
check the fit regularly, especially on growing dogs. And, not leave the harness
on your dog unattended.
