 Since
1984, Northern California based Max-Comfort has been manufacturing high quality commercial children's
furniture for schools & libraries. Over the years, people started purchasing
Max-Comfort's children's furniture for their furry friends to use as dog beds.
Just as they did over 20 years ago for children, they studied the needs
of dogs in order to create fabulous beds and furniture. They
observed that all dogs love to lean into the back on their sofa beds, and lay
their heads on the arms for a pillow. So the beds were dimensioned, and the arms
and backs lowered. This has
led to the most complete line of memory foam dog furniture available, and your last stop as
you've found the most comfortable and durable memory foam dog beds ever
developed.
Whatever you desire, be it designing an environment for your
dog that
includes a stylish sofa bed, directing your dog off the people furniture yet
maintaining your closeness, or simply wishing for the most comfortable bed
possible, Max-Comfort has the answer. Every item is handmade in the
USA with only high quality durable materials that can withstand the test of time.
As owner, Woody, says, "If you ever want to test
durability for something, put it in a preschool with 150 three to five-year-olds, or in
a doggie day care, some with our dog beds have over 300 dogs per night." Woody
also understands how pain affects sleep. He's had rheumatoid arthritis since age
7, along with two hip replacements, and prior to sleeping on a memory foam bed
would wake up every hour with pain and stiffness. Now, moving much easier after
a restful five hours sleep—that first night on memory
foam—and his BioMedic memory
foam dog beds were born.

BioMedic memory
foam has no fillers or flame retardants, blowing agent is water. |
Max-Comfort, the first company to provide memory foam dog beds,
does not try to compete
with companies making beds overseas with cheap labor and questionable or
dangerous materials. Beware of imitations! Inexpensive imported foams commonly
contain fillers that weaken the comfort and performance of the bed and can be a
health hazard to your dogs. They often contain flame retardants that are toxic
to your dog.
Some companies operate in countries without oversight and their
only mission is sending beds to America at the cheapest possible price with no
concern for quality or your dogs health. Some even use Freon as the blowing
agent for making the foam. This releases thousands of pounds of harmful Freon
gas into the air daily.
Max-Comfort uses only quality components
and never sell imported beds or imported foam. Max-Comfort beds are completely free of
toxins and their foam has zero fillers. It costs much more to make these beds in
America and use only top quality USA made foam. When you
consider the quality, comfort, environment and lifetime guarantee, we think it's money well spent.
Despite having built and shipped over 150,000 pieces, every bed is created with great personal pride.
Max-Comfort will only ship you a bed or sofa that they would give to their own dogs. You can spend less
or
you can spend more, but you won't find a better dog bed anywhere. And, while it
may seem like it is a luxury item purchase, there are significant health
benefits according to Dr. Elizabeth Higgins, staff veterinarian at the Humane Society of New York: "Dogs that lie down a lot, especially large and giant breeds, develop sores
and calluses from sleeping on hard surfaces, so a comfortable mattress is not a
frivolous expenditure," explains Higgins. "It's actually an investment in a
pet's health. Any mattress that conforms to the body and stays cushy is
beneficial, especially for aging and arthritic animals. We take care to choose
high-quality mattresses for ourselves and our kids, so why not for the family
dog?"
Dogs, and especially
Goldens, have a high tolerance for pain and are not inclined to complain about
things such as comfort or mild pain. But, just like in their 2-legged
humans, pain or discomfort can be traced
back to sleeping conditions.
Comfortable and supportive beds do make a difference and are especially noticeable in older dogs.
Dogs are living longer and getting less exercise which has caused
an increase in old age related illnesses. Other than
medication, a quality dog bed is the most prescribed treatment for elderly,
injured and large breed dogs. Be sure beds are big enough to accommodate your
dog, that is, with room for him or her to turn around.
How it works
— Originally developed by NASA for space flight, memory foam is the most
comfortable sleep surface ever developed. NASA technology memory foam by
responding to body heat and weight, conforms to your pet's body, providing
exceptional therapeutic cushioning. There are billions of microporoscopic Visco
cells that function as "molecular springs" which contour to your dog's exact
body dimensions and provide superior comfort. The support is even. This assures
comfort for your dog's spine and prevents the creation of compression points
that aggravate any orthopedic condition.
Memory foam is a perfect choice for your older or health-challenged dog. The
incredible comfort of memory foam will be equally appreciated by your younger
dog. Be aware, inner spring mattress dog beds, regular foam orthopedic dog beds, egg crate
foam orthopedic dog beds, shredded foam orthopedic dog beds
and polyfill dog beds all compact and
create resistance at points where the most weight is applied. This creates
pressure points that bring about discomfort and less than restful sleep.
The harder you compress these beds, the more counter pressure or
resistance that is built up. These pressure points are why people and dogs toss
and turn, as they try to get away from the pressure build up. The obvious
problem is that even with turning over, the pressure points soon develop again.
This is also why you, or your dog, wake up sore and unrested.
The science to Max-Comfort BioMedic orthopedic dog beds is that the memory foam does not push
back. When weight is applied to their memory foam beds, they conform perfectly
to your dog. They even out the pressure providing the most comfortable rest
possible. With a Max-Comfort orthopedic dog bed you will notice an immediate
improvement in your dog's rest. They will sleep sounder and wake feeling better.
While these beds are the ultimate for dogs of any size or age, they are a
necessity for big dogs who tend to spend more time lying down and are more prone to orthopedic issues.
These beds are perfect for post operative recovery, and when dogs are confined to a crate to heal, you want the best pad available.
Individualized
Benefits —
Max-Comfort® orthopedic memory
foam dog beds/mattresses have been developed and designed to assure maximum
comfort for dogs of all sizes. Each bed has a determined proportion of memory
foam and support foam suited to the particular size of your dog. Beds are
available in many sizes to accommodate every breed of dog, or for families with
multiple dogs who want to sleep together. Dogs who must recuperate after
surgeries need to remain inactive within a crate. These dogs especially need
comfort. Max-Comfort can create beds perfectly sized to your particular crates.

Microfiber Suede, Crypton® Waterproof Suede & Wovens, Genuine or Faux
Leather, and Specialty Fabrics |
-
Group 2 Crypton Waterproof: This fabric
performs fabulously with waterproof assurance. Offered in microfiber faux
suede brown, red, tan, and MochaDog (puppy faces). This is soft and
comfortable like the Group 1 suede below but is stronger and waterproof. No
"plastic" feel. The woven fabrics are rotator, blissful blue twill and
celadon. This eco-friendly fabric is stain, moisture, odor and bacteria
resistant.
- Group 2 Woven (NOT waterproof): These are broad
woven tapestry upholstery fabrics, NOT prints. You may select these
for the top panel of the BioMedic memory foam memory foam dog beds, bolster
beds or the center cushion for a sofa bed. Dazzle is an exceptionally heavy
60% acrylic polyester blend.
- Group 1 Microfiber Faux Suede: This microfiber
faux (simulated) suede is ultra soft and very durable. This water resistant
fabric is low maintenance, stain resistant and breathable. It
has great color depth and withstands hundreds of washings. For sofa beds,
you'll be amazed how well it cleans with just a damp cloth. For sofas the
occasional shampoo keeps them looking like new.
- Group 1 Faux Leather: The faux (simulated)
leathers have excellent durability. This is a heavy vinyl with a leather
like grain. They clean easily by wiping with water and mild dish soap with a
damp cloth. Faux
leathers are waterproof.
- Group 1 Specialty Fabrics: The denim is
14-ounce pre-washed, comfortable, durable and 100% cotton. It looks like
partially faded blue jeans. The faux lambskin is very dense―two
to three times denser than most sherpa dog beds. It holds up much better
to laundering and is softer. You can select this for use as the top for any
of the beds and sofa beds. The 1000 Dernier Cordura Nylon is for chew
resistant dog beds. You may select this for any dog beds or sofa beds.
Although nothing is chew proof, this is a strong fabric that will hold up to
most chewers and scratchers. MaxTuff
(color named "breen" for its brownish olive green hue)
is similar to the 1000 Dernier Cordura Nylon,
but is thicker and
50% stronger and probably the toughest dog bed fabric anywhere.

Leather Care — Leather beds need to be cleaned regularly as an accumulation of
dirt and grease over a period of time is not only undesirable, but obviously the
longer it is left, the more difficult it will be to remove. Regular cleaning can
be done simply by using a damp cloth, taking care not to soak the leather as
this could damage it. Modern leathers are not required to be “fed” and therefore
the temptation to apply saddle soap or wax polishes should be avoided. DO NOT
use spray polishes as these contain silicone, and after a period of time will
produce a sticky surface. It is vital that any cleaning fluid that does not
state that it can be used on leather should not be used. Many of these cleaners
have a high alkaline content and can be particularly harmful. It is also
important that the methods for cleaning shoe leather do not apply to your
leather luxury dog bed, and therefore wax polishes should be avoided.
