The Kenyan Collection comes from a collaboration among business
people and artisans showcasing the wonderful and diverse culture that is Kenya.
The goal is to provide people a greater opportunity to share their talent and
improve their lives.
This venture brings interest in Kenya and its culture, employs Americans
directly and indirectly and provides a product that allows us to adorn our pets
that bring joy.
The Kenyan Collection beaded leather product line features true works of art, with no two
pieces alike.
Hand beaded by the Maasai mamas in Kenya and imported for sale in the USA, each piece is
created with individual instinctive techniques and designs. The beautiful beading
on leather must be seen and touched to be appreciated.
BEADED LEATHER DOG COLLARS The mamas average the beading for two collars a day. Beads are hand sewn in
leather, then an overlay of leather is glued and stitched on the back.
Because
each product in this line is a unique creation, specific designs cannot be
selected, and widths and lengths may vary slightly. Supplies are limited to the
number of pieces that the Maasai are able to produce. The video clip below shows
the painstaking work that goes into creating one of these incredible collars. These collars—as beautiful as they are—are just as sturdy.
Artisans encouraged to create their
own designs. Some patterns similar, but specific designs are not
duplicated.
Buckles, rings, and snaps on leads
are solid hand-cast brass, individually poured.
Collars, leads, and belts lined with fine
leather to protect the beading (and dog from irritation). Weather
resistant shoe glue to attach backing for durable collars.
Beading anchored every 4 to 8
beads into leather to secure beads.
Leads 4 feet, not
for dogs that pull, but can attach to Easy
Walk Harness or Head Collar
which
prevents pulling.

string it takes. Measure that length of string by laying it on a ruler or
yard stick. A measuring tape is even better to use.

LEATHER DOG LEADS — 4 feet long These gorgeous leads are available
in the same color Patterns noted in the collection's Beaded Collars above.
They are not recommended for those dogs that pull. However, attaching a
lead to an Easy
Walk Harness or Head Collar
prevents pulling. In these cases, the lead should work very well.
As each beaded product is unique,
leads and collars will ordinarily not be exact matches.
The folks at The Kenyan Collection, however, can easily find
complementary pieces so that your ordered collars and leads match quite
well. Just let us know in the comments section of the order whether you
desire such a match to be made. An exact matching set can additionally
be special ordered but will require up to a 12 week delivery time. If
this is desired, simply notate that with your order.

LEATHER HORSE BROWBANDS
These lovely browbands will make your horse stand out among the crowd.
The browbands are hand beaded on fine brown or black leather.
The horse browbands are available
in 14 through 16 inch lengths, and in three color patterns: Primary Colors, Earth
Tones,
and the Black and White Zebra pattern.

LEATHER BELTS These
beaded leather belts look stunning paired with
jeans or semi-dressy pants. They are crafted by the same artisans as the most popular dog
collars above.
The belts are hand beaded and they are then lined with leather to make them durable and
attractive.
The belts have buckles that are solid, hand-cast brass that is individually poured.
These incredible works of art (disguised as a belts) are available in
some of the same colors as
the dog collars — bright primary colors, muted earth tones, a
black and white "zebra" pattern, a gold "cheetah" pattern,
and a
maroon with patterning.
The belts are provided in two widths: ¾" and 1¼". Sizes are provided from 28" to 42" in length.
