Cetyl M provides joint relief for hip dysplasia
and arthritis, and improves your dog's comfort and mobility.
It also can be used to prevent the onset of joint problems.
There’s
nothing more heartbreaking than seeing your beloved four-legged
companion in pain. For years, glucosamine has been the primary
treatment for joint problems, but now there’s Advanced Cetyl
M — available in convenient and tasty super-palatable tablet form.
The main ingredients of this supplement are Cetyl Myristoleate
and Glucosamine. Cetyl Myristoleate is a unique esterified fatty
acid derived from myristoleic acid. Most animals — including people,
dogs and horses — cannot make cetyl myristoleate on their own. To
benefit from its unique joint health properties, it must be
synthesized from myristoleic acid and administered orally or as a
topical cream.
This is one of the natural joint
soothers that can improve comfort while nourishing joints and
contributing to healthy cartilage.
Glucosamine is an amino sugar produced in the body that provides a
key building block for the synthesis of GAGs and proteoglycans. GAGs
are the principle components of cartilage and synovial fluid found
in the joint. They have been referred to as the “glue of life” as
they help hold together connective tissues like collagen, tendons
and ligaments. They are essential for maintaining the shock
absorbency of joints.

The Story of Cetyl Myristoleate A Mighty Mouse that Beat Back Arthritis
Cetyl
myristoleate was discovered by the late Harry Diehl, a research chemist at the
National Institute of Health (NIH). In addition to isolating cetyl myristoleate
and more than 500 other first-time compounds, Diehl is also known for
discovering a method for synthesizing the unique sugar form used in the
preparation of Dr. Jonas Salk’s oral polio vaccine.
But what about the mouse? Well, during Diehl's research on arthritis, he
discovered that he was unable to induce arthritis in a particular species of
Swiss albino mice. He theorized that these particular mice carried a special
trait that helped prevent the onset of arthritis—and he eventually was able to
isolate cetyl myristoleate as the secret compound.
Today, your animals can enjoy the same relief and benefits from this natural
joint-enhancer in Advanced Cetyl M® Joint Action Formulas for dogs.
And just think, it all started with a mouse.
Unique
Molecular Structure Makes the Difference
Cetyl myristoleate is a unique esterified fatty acid derived from myristoleic
acid—and is the key ingredient in Advanced Cetyl M Joint Action Formula. In its
raw form, myristoleic acid is found in African kombo nut butter and also in
whale fat and beef tallow. It also can be found in its esterified form in a
single species of albino mouse that is immune to
arthritis.
With it's unique molecular structure, cetyl myristoleate acts in four unique and
beneficial ways to enhance joint health and performance:
First, cetyl myristoleate helps to regulate or “calm down” the
body’s immune response to joint irritation—enhancing joint recovery and minimizing damage from pain and stress-inducing activities.
Second, cetyl myristoleate acts as an
anti-inflammatory, helping to reduce the symptoms of inflammatory arthritis
and other conditions in which inflammation can slow recovery, further tissue
damage, increase pain and restrict motion.
Third, cetyl myristoleate stimulates joint lubrication
to help relieve stiffness and improve joint mobility and range of motion.
And finally, cetyl myristoleate has an analgesic or pain-killing effect that reduces joint pain and raises your dog’s level
of comfort.
The story of cetyl myristoleate is a story of relief that continues to play
out every day for thousands of dogs across the country that are
benefiting from Advanced Cetyl M Joint Action Formula.
The Makers of Cetyl M Answer your Questions 1. What is cetyl myristoleate?
Cetyl myristoleate is a unique esterified fatty acid that has been shown
to have dramatic and positive effects on injured, arthritic and healthy
joints. Cetyl myristoleate is derived from myristoleic acid, which
occurs naturally in the African kombo nut (wild nutmeg), whale fat and
beef tallow. Advanced Cetyl M® Joint Action Formula for Dogs uses a
unique combination of cetyl myristoleate from both plant and animal
sources.
2. Can’t dogs simply make their
own cetyl myristoleate?
Unfortunately, they cannot. Cetyl myristoleate must come from an outside
source and is beneficial to joint health and recovery because of its
unique molecular structure. Subjecting it to heat or pressure, such as
occurs in the manufacturing process with pelleted and extruded products,
can have a degrading effect—and can lower its beneficial properties for
joint tissues. That’s why we DO NOT pellet Advanced Cethly M® Joint
Action Formula for Dogs.
3. How does cetyl myristoleate work?
Cetyl myristoleate works in combination with our unique
proprietary blend of joint-enhancing ingredients in Advanced Cetyl M®
Joint Action Formula to target joint tissues and reduce inflammation,
stimulate joint lubrication, reduce pain and stiffness, and regulate the
body’s immune response to joint stress and irritation. The precise
mechanisms in each case are not fully known. Empirical data, however,
have repeatedly demonstrated these benefits reliably in dogs and
horses—and even humans.
4. How long until Advanced Cetyl M
starts working?
The first signs are commonly seen two to three weeks after
treatment begins, but can take longer depending on the nature and
severity of the animal's condition and other variables. This is a
serious treatment that acts on joint tissues at the cellular level to
enhance joint structure and tissue function. As such, it is not designed
to simply “mask” symptoms and should not be viewed as a “quick fix.” The
recommended time and dosage for the initial “loading” period and
subsequent maintenance program are based on averages. In nature, of
course, there is no such thing as “average.” Be sure to monitor your
dog’s condition closely and adjust as necessary to help ensure
optimum results.
5. How long do I have to give Advanced
Cetyl M to my dog?
The answer to this question is impossible to know for certain,
depending on the nature and severity of your dog's condition—and
your treatment goals. For chronic conditions, such as arthritis, we
recommend an ongoing maintenance program for continued relief. For more acute conditions, such as a
specific injury, treatment may continue until the joint has fully
recovered. In these situations, Advanced Cetyl M
is often administered post-recovery to slow or prevent the onset of
arthritis in the injured joint. For active animals where joints are
subjected to higher levels of stress, particularly large dogs, the
formula is often used
as a preventative treatment to enhance performance, minimize the
damaging effects of stress on joint tissues, and increase the life of
the joint and the comfort of the dog.
6. Are there any side effects?
There are no known side effects with Advanced Cetyl M® Joint
Action Formula. All ingredients are naturally occurring and formulated
to enhance joint function. There are no synthetic compounds, drugs or
medications of any kind.
Veterinarians have prescribed our formula
since its introduction in 1998 to promote joint health, relief and
performance in dogs without restriction.
7. Will Advanced Cetyl M® interfere
with other medications?
No. Veterinarians have been using this formula since its introduction in 1998 to promote
joint health, relief and performance in dogs without
restriction.
8. Do I have to give a “loading” dose
if my dog is already on glucosamine?
Yes. Cetyl myristoleate effects and acts upon joint tissues in
ways that are unique to cetyl myristoleate—and DIFFERENT than
glucosamine. One does not work as a substitute for the other. In
Advanced Cetyl M® Joint Action Formula, cetyl myristoleate and
Glucosamine HCL work in concert with other joint-enhancing ingredients
to deliver the greatest benefit to your dog. We recommend an initial
“loading” dose be 4-6 weeks for
dogs. The recommended “loading” period and dosage level are based on
averages. In nature, of course, there is no such thing as “average.” Be
sure to monitor your dog’s condition and adjust as may be necessary
to help ensure optimum results.
