This was developed by Caroline Levin. Training a blind dog can be extra challenging. When the author assisted several owners with their training, the sessions were filmed. Discusses training theory, equipment, and working through stress. Each owner is guided through the skills discussed in Ch. 8 of "Living with Blind Dogs." Additional footage includes demonstrations with more advanced dogs.

Living With Blind Dogs: A Resource Book and Training Guide for the Owners of Blind and Low Vision Dogs
This book was written by Caroline D. Levin and was published in March 1998. This book is a comprehensive work that provides the educational tools necessary to help owners and their dogs adapt quickly to vision problems with minimal stress. Levin's sections on how to train blind dogs leave no stone unturned. "Living With Blind Dogs" provides a giant ray of hope for blind-dog owners who until now have had few places to turn for assistance.

Blind Dog Stories: Tales of Triumph, Humor and Heroism
This book was written by Caroline D. Levin and was published in August 1999. It is a heartwarming collection of short stories for the dog-lover. Spawned from her previous work with blind dogs, Caroline Levin enlightens and entertains the reader with two dozen amazing dog stories. This, Levin's second book, demonstrates that blind dogs can lead happy, useful lives and celebrates the beauty of the human-canine bond.

Brave Norman : A True Story (2002)
This book was written by Andrew Clements and illustrated by Ellen Beier. For children Grades 1-2. A blind dog saves a child and becomes a hero in this Ready-to-Read title. Rescued from the pound, golden retriever Norman adores his new family. When he starts to go blind, the family continues to love and support him, taking him often to the beach where he can run freely without bumping into things. That's where he hears a drowning girl, swims to her rescue, and becomes a local celebrity. The gripping, sentimental story, perfectly paced and worded for new readers, will compel children to complete the text on their own, and Beier's appealing, realistic watercolor illustrations show Norman in all his tongue-wagging, compassionate charm. A great choice for animal lovers.

Living With a Deaf Dog : A Book of Advice, Facts & Experiences About Canine Deafness (1997)
This book was written by Susan Cope Becker. The book is to help owner and deaf dog communicate. The author wrote this book with love, compassion and first-hand experience. She included over two years worth of research on the topics of congenital deafness in dogs, training tips and personal experiences from deaf dog owners from all over the world. This book is a viable resource for the person who is facing the challenge of training and communicating with a deaf dog. It addresses: getting and keeping the deaf dog's attention; over 25 hand signs; including a dozen illustrated signs; training and safety tips testing a dog for deafness at home; information about BAER testing; the genetics of canine deafness; and deaf dog myths and why they are not true. The book also feature stories about deaf dogs from around the world in stories told by their owners.

HEAR, HEAR! A Guide to Training a Deaf Puppy (2001)
This book was written by Barry Eaton. New 3rd edition contains a few minor changes. How to get attention, teach basic commands, or create individualized commands to fit your needs...here's help and encouragement you'll appreciate if you have knowingly or unknowingly taken on a deaf puppy!

Amazing Gracie
This book was written by Dan Dye and Mark Beckloff and published by Workman Publishing in October 2000. It's a love story and a rags-to-riches story about a dog named Gracie. Gracie is a deaf and partially blind albino Great Dane with a delicate constitution and penchant for small miracles. In the middle of a bitter Kansas City winter, Dan would save the loneliest pup in the litter, Gracie. And over the next ten years, Gracie would save Dan, helping him learn the meaning of happiness.

Caesar: On Deaf Ears
This book was written by Loren Spiotta-DiMare and was published in August 1997. In this book, Caesar is returned to the shelter because he is deaf, but a determined shelter worker discovers how to teach him with signs! This is a beautiful picture book for children, but it's nice for anyone with a deaf dog.

Muddy Four Paws
This book was written by Jean Ure and was published in April 1999. In this book, Clara and Jilly first see the suitcase in a ditch. Of course, they don't expect it to yelp. The noise-maker turns out to be Mud, an abandoned dog, and they really want to keep him. This story features a hearing impaired child, and Mud is found to be deaf as well. It is written for middle elementary school children.

Disposable Dogs: Heartwarming, True Stories of Courage and Compassion (2004)
This book was written by Steve Swanbeck.
