December
30, 2004 Yesterday was a very long day but
one that led to completion of the construction and fitting of Polar's prosthesis. There
will be a gradual wearing-in period in which Polar's remaining stump skin toughens up
around the area of insertion. Marty has also indicated that his leg's shape will change
within the next year, then requiring more adjustments and fittings.
Marty sure is one incredible guy. He
actually got home from his vacation on Wednesday at 12:30am, getting to bed at 2am. Yet,
he met with us at 8:30am in his office ready to spend the entire day with Polar. He wasn't
even supposed to be working then, and had to leave today to tend to his extremely ill dad
in Florida. Please enjoy the following photos
taken by Mary Jane from Marty's
M. H. Mandelbaum Orthotic & Prosthetic Services.
