Stephen Huneck is an internationally-acclaimed and much-collected Vermont artist, sculptor & children’s book writer and illustrator, whose playful hand-carved furniture, sculpture and whimsical woodcut prints celebrate the human-canine bond. A self-taught sculptor and wood-carver, Stephen loves the texture that you can only get by hand. He has a collection of tools consisting of over 150 chisels, 30 hand planes and axes, carving almost everyday of the year. When Stephen does take time off, it is to walk with his Labs, Golden & Dalmatian. After a near death experience in 1994, Stephen had a vision to build a Dog Chapel. "A place where people can go and celebrate the spiritual bond they have with their dogs," it is now the largest, and most personal, artwork of his life.

Stephen's original woodcuts are offered via his Giclee & Woodcut Prints. Giclee is the foremost method of reproduction available today. The woodcut is digitally captured and then reproduced on a sophisticated printer that offers a greater resolution than is normally achievable. The ink and paper are archival and will last for 200 years before any fading will occur. Printed on 100% cotton rag acid-free fine art paper using archival pigmented based inks, the ultra-fine density of the ink droplets allow for superior saturation, dynamic color, and thorough penetration into the surface. Due to this advancement in printing, many are unable to tell the difference between the original and the Giclee.

To create a woodcut print, Stephen first draws the design in crayon, laying out the prospective shapes and colors. He then takes a wooden board and carves away all areas that will not be printed. The result is a series of carved blocks, one for each color in the print. After a block has been inked with its respective color, acid-free, archival paper is laid onto the block and it is hand-pulled through his press at Dog Mountain. The finished wood-cut print is a unique piece of original art, each one slightly different from the rest. Every one of Stephen's woodcut prints is available as a giclee print.

Stephen Huneck original prints may be purchased either framed or unframed, but what could be better than a Huneck print in a Huneck frame? When Stephen was looking for frames for his Woodcuts and Giclee prints he had a hard time finding exactly what he wanted. So, being an artist and a woodworker, he designed his own frames. The frames are made right on Dog Mountain and are made from indigenous Vermont Maple and Ash, much of which is harvested there. The frames are assembled, sanded and finished in beautiful Maple or Black finishes. Stephen also use archival paper for both the woodcuts and giclee prints. They are mounted with double acid free mats and finished with these beautiful artistic frames. The quality of paper, ink and mats insure that these prints will be around for a long time.
